The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds across Northern Ireland on Thursday, with gusts of up to 70mph (115km/h) expected in some areas.

The alert is in place from 13:00 to 23:00 GMT, with south to south-easterly winds forecast to strengthen through the afternoon and evening. Most areas are expected to see gusts around 50mph (80km/h), while exposed coastal and upland regions — particularly along the east coast — could experience stronger conditions.

The Met Office warned of potential disruption to travel, including delays to road, rail, air and ferry services, as well as a small risk of power outages.

Several Halloween events have already been cancelled or postponed because of the forecast. Heavy outbreaks of rain are also expected later in the day, adding to difficult conditions across parts of the region.
