TV presenter Davina McCall has announced her engagement to her partner, celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas, after seven years together.
The news was confirmed by her representatives to the BBC following an initial report in The Sun. It comes just months after the 57-year-old revealed she had successfully recovered from surgery to remove a benign brain tumour.
From Colleagues to Couple
McCall and Douglas first met in the early 2000s when he styled her hair for TV work. At the time she was married to Matthew Robertson, with whom she has three children. Their marriage ended in 2017, and McCall and Douglas began dating the following year.
The couple have spoken openly about their relationship and the challenges they have faced together. Douglas cared for McCall at home after her surgery last November, when doctors discovered a colloid cyst during a routine health check linked to her menopause advocacy work.
Health Battle and Recovery
The operation, which required part of her skull to be removed, was described by McCall as “the hardest thing I’ve ever been through.” In April, the couple shared on Instagram that recent scans showed the tumour had been fully removed. They thanked medical teams, friends and family for their support during her recovery.
A Career in the Spotlight
McCall remains one of the UK’s best-known TV personalities. She rose to fame hosting Big Brother in the early 2000s and has since fronted programmes including Long Lost Family and The Masked Singer UK. She is currently presenting Stranded on Honeymoon Island, a new BBC dating reality show.
While no wedding date has been announced, the engagement has been met with widespread congratulations, marking a positive new chapter in McCall’s life.
