An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in Prestatyn, Denbighshire.
Police were called to the Morfa area, near Dawson Drive, at around 08:40 BST on Friday following reports of concern for a woman. Officers confirmed she was pronounced dead at the scene.
North Wales Police said a murder investigation is under way and that formal identification of the woman has not yet taken place. Her family is being supported by specialist officers.
Detectives have cordoned off the area while forensic teams continue their investigation. Officers were seen at the scene throughout Friday as inquiries continued.
Superintendent Lee Boycott said:
“We are not actively looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and there is no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public.”
He added that increased patrols will be in place across Prestatyn over the weekend to reassure residents.
“We would ask people not to speculate about the incident online and to report any information or concerns to officers,” he said.
The incident has shocked the local community, with residents describing the area as “quiet and friendly.”
